Meeker, Colorado Cat Rescue
Holly King
I have known Irene for many years having also lived in the same area. The dream of creating a shelter for cats was high on her agenda, and we worked to develop a plan to build a facility that would accomplish the task at hand. There was much to do designing, building, trapping, and
spaying/neutering, not to mention helping others manage their feral populations. It’s been a long road but so well worth it. Irene is now a 501c (non-profit) and has her certification from the state to run a rescue shelter. Improvements are a regular event to improve the care for the animals. As the plan grew and came to development, we looked not only to the present situation but also to the future to ensure the shelter could continue after we had passed on. The next generation of caregivers are committed and Irene’s dream a true reality.

I met Irene through a mutual friend, at the time I had 18 cats that needed to be spayed and neutered. I knew that was the right thing to do but I could not afford to do that. Irene was able to trap and have them all fixed. All is good now, thanks Irene!

I am confined to a wheel chair due to MS. Irene was my nurse a the long term care facility. I wanted to go the the Daytona 500 Races, and she arranged it and accompanied me. We became friends and I now live on the cattery premises and am one of the volunteers who works with the cats. It's all thanks to Irene for being so caring!
